Women's History Month 2024
To celebrate 2024 Women's History Month, the Chairs Circle for Gender Equality hosted workshops on “Bringing to Light Hidden Heritage.”
Using the model of the Black Women's History Project created for Island schools, the workshop explored ways to deepen our understandings of heritage and present hidden histories for our communities. The workshop brought together educators and members of the public to share more diverse stories of our past.

Women's History Month 2023
In 2023, the Chairs Circle hosted its first events. The PEI 150: Women Making History events welcomed locals and visitors to two dynamic showcase events to celebrate 150 years of PEI women’s contributions to Island culture and history.
A day-long program featured hands-on,
participatory workshops on women’s history and a public reception that brought to life women’s history with entertainment by local performers and interactive displays highlighting exciting provincial history projects. Workshops highlighted the Black Women's History Project, including a tour of the historic Bog community, and 100 years of gender being removed as a barrier to voting.
